After doing a lot of research I have made the decision to move onto creating the designs. I began to look at the mutations of the human cells which cause a natural disability and took the idea of molecular bonds and the structures of human cells to create the texture I wanted to use. I started to then manipulate fabric and sew up circle attaching them together with a few stitches to recreate a similar effect. I got inspired by a few images which enabled me to understand the way in which I would construct certain features and techniques.

NEW, REFINED DESIGNS...
For this brief, I had to illustrate my designs in a way that was detailed and technical improving the last versions and developing them so they were a suitable standard for interview. I liked my originals because it suits my style and personality but I can understand the construction of these garments now they have the rest of the information on. I think I would improve it by selecting a few to go into more detail with making them appear more stronger. I have managed to incorporate all the stitch and seam lines so the manufacturer would be clear on what they have to produce rather than the vague image that was coming through from the first attempts. Which one is your favourite?

CREATING A DESIGN WITH MY OWN TEMPLATE...
For today's task we have had to create a template by merging poses and facial expressions we like together and trace off to create a full figure. I had to two attempt and chose the best outcome to then sketch over it my design from the last brief. I then added colour and focused in on features and areas that might need sampling and how it will function. At the start of this task I was getting a bit frustrated as I couldn't draw it free hand but then the computer made it much easier to cope with. I then started to enjoy the experimenting and knowing that I have created the template myself.

2 DESIGN SHEETS COMPLETE JUST 4 MORE TO GO...
I have already posted one of my design sheets up but now it's complete so you can see how more I have added to it. The first design sheet is based on a trousers and top outfit that uses inserts so I had to focus on stitches, zips, inserts, waist bands, button holes. Then I did another one which was a cape, top and skirt and had to deconstruct the features to see how I would sample and make it and what fabrics I would use. I am pleased with these now so they can go in my portfolio for interview for universities.

TOILING THE PATTERN FOR MY CHOSEN TROUSER...
For Unit 120 I have to manufacture a trouser design that relates to my chosen brand identity which you now know is Stella McCartney! To gain this pattern on the trouser I started to experiment with fabrics and created a Toile of how the pattern pieces would look and what scale they would be in to fit to a size 12 model. I pinned all the pieces together as close as I could in moderation to the design and think this pieces can be now used to create my patterns using another method of pattern cutting. I think this gives me an idea of what pieces go with each other and how far apart and how they over lap. This is my guide as I can refer back to these pieces if I get stuck whilst manufacturing.

CAPSULE COLLECTION DESIGNS...
The final task of this brief was to design a capsule collection for a designer that believed in sustainable methods. I got the tasks of designing for Stella McCartney so had to make sure it suited the target customer of her brand and incorporate inspiration and my own trends within the design. It was quite difficult to design with restrictions as you had to make sure it would identify her brand identity whilst remaining creative within your designs. I had a colour scheme similar to what she would have in an autumn/ winter collection with a few garments that were more vibrant to bring the collection to life. I had to include tailoring, knit and office wear as this is the main target customer for her clothes. In these designs I used similar prints but changed the repeat of the pattern or silhouette so it fitted in with my trends making it more individual to me as a designer. Overall, I think this brief has gone really well and I have managed to complete the tasks with meeting the deadlines and think I have produced some strong designs to take through to the manufacturing brief.

NEW DESIGNER ALERT!
Back to college work - I have been designing for Stella McCartney creating a capsule collection for her label. The other day we had to pitch our brand and how our trends related to the brand identity of the label we were designing for. I used a mood board and my sketchpad and thought I would show you my mood board which had suitable images of her work and how they relate to my trends. I also took inspiration from some ideas I had draped onto the mannequin looking at Elizabethan shapes and silhouettes. What do you think, does it portray the trends I am looking into?
18TH BIRTHDAY...
To sum up today: chilled and relaxed. I have danced, visited a university and friend and received a cake and presents off my family. The thing with my cake is that I set my grandma a mini brief to go and make a cake I had designed and it actually turned out better than I expected. I went to Demontfort University and was impressed with the standard off work and politeness off the helpers. To complete my birthday was to have a Chinese for tea which is pretty sad but when you have been travelling all day and haven't had one in a while it fills a hole.

DESIGN AND PLAN...
The whole day has been spent getting my head round the Golden Ratio and I have drawn a diagram which has allowed me to process it and finally understand. I designed the dress as seen on a previous post using this method and I have to tell you it's very difficult but a logic way of thinking to design. We then set up our own working spot and started to sketch. I used the pencil and collage on the first attempt and then paint, pencil crayon, pencil and collage on the next one and both worked out really well.
