PUTTING KNITTING IN PROSPECTIVE...

During my stay in Kent I took up the hobby of knitting and knitted many small pieces so incorporated them into my dress that I made today. I like how they go with the colour scheme and how they contrast to the texture of the rest of the dress but they are quite bold and take a little bit of attention away from the dress so I don't know whether to change the straps to a thinner thickness. What do you think?

ANOTHER DRESS...

I was in the mood to create a dress today so I did. The colours I used were browns and dark purple taking inspiration from the colours in the pattern on the printed fabric. I decided to use cotton, satin and leather to contrast in thickness and texture of material. I like this and how uneven the lines are and how imprecise it looks as it gives it a different shape and more volume.so, which one do you prefer the first or second?

GOT A SKIRT NOW WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH...

As you might well know that I made a skirt fitted to both my size and my sisters and decided to piece it with a top but attempted to display it in many different way in which it would flatter the figure. Loose, tight or slightly baggy, what do you think, which one?

SCRAP PATTERNS.. JUST GO FOR IT..

I couldn't figure out these patterns that I have bought so I decided to just make something on the stand. I found that working with patterns very difficult because I haven't tried it before so I have to think hard about what the instructions are asking me to do. I might try it some time next week, what do you think? Hopefully keep our fingers crossed and you could see something good. Anyway I did try a dress on the stand but having to improvise with the fastening because I only have a domestic machine so thinking a hook and eye or loop and button to fasten at the back. It's simple but I like that about it, it bring peace even though I have been stressed through the process of sorting out patterns.

RUFFLED BODICE...

Finally you can see what it should look like on a model size 10-12. The experiment which turned out well in the end. To finish this off I would have to over lock the edges to allow it to photograph and hand sew the ruffles to hide the fraying. It looks better like this than flat right?

THE CUBE FIASCO...

I did promise you a photograph with this bodice on the mannequin, right? Well I gave you it anyway but I don't think it looks quite right, but I'm not too heartbroken about as it was an experiment, I'll just have to try it again! I wonder where I went wrong? Do you think it looks right?

FORMULA FASHION...

Today I attended Northampton University Open day and enjoyed the experience of finding out a bit about the course of Fashion. The interesting part of this course is that you can experiment with fashion, textiles and footwear and accessories and the work is just amazing. The work is so innovative and is so refreshing to see something different like the shoe making coming through in fashion. The quality of the garments were amazing and it was interesting to see what advance techniques are developed throughout the years at this university. I think it's definitely an option for me I can see myself fitting in there and getting on with the creative work which comes with the job of university.
