Are You A Victim?

HELMUT NEWTON

KIDNAPPING

SURGICAL GLOVES

I depicted a theme of mental health to develop into a personal concept linking elements of crime, suicide and violence together. The historial content of mental institutes and the patient's therapy intrigued me using expressive words and slogans using symbolism and metaphors to get their controversial characters across. Ambiguity and symbolism has been captivated in designer's work such as Junya Watanabe's STRAIGHT JACKET and semiotics displayed on his hooved shoes. Different thoughts and ideas then threaded off to think about surgical equipment such as: scissors; scapels, gloves, masks and gowns. This influenced my designs to feature these practical garments but manipulating them into my story.
JUNYA WATANABE- He defaces the structure of the human body and replaces it with a new identity of nothing making it forgotton. Similar to a foot tag replacing the dead renewing their identity to just a name and number.

I broke up different stages of mental health into the time when diagnosed, Aggression, Treatment, Accomodation, Therapy and Recovery.Contrasting colours can signify different parts of the illness diversing the colour schemes to make it coherent to the audience the storyline.

DAVID LACHAPELLE
David Lachapelle collaborate minimal scale with iconic figures simialr to the conept of ALICE AND WONDERLAND converting the scale. He alters the purpose and concept of this photograph as the abrbie doll make it seem surreal and add humour but the human figure contrasts to amke it more serious abiding by the law. This links in with my theme because physcological and physical actions can lead to crime and violence controlling and operating a healthy mind.

EWEN MCGREGOR

CAMERON DIAZ
Similarly the other image is to portray invading the privacy of an innocent person breaking the law and acting as a crime. This can link as it is pushing the boundaries and acting beyond normality.

Adapting my Couture board

Plan B

I realised my couture board didn't portray the chosen accessory coherently so I have sampled different colours schemes and textures to recreate a new board suited to a couture market. I thought I would use the idea of packaging with a show box but layering it in a texture I had recreated from a primary source of the ceiling with string and masking tape but change the shape to be a horizontal line rather than circular lines. To seal the masking tape down securely I plastered PVA glue evenly to make it stonger and more appealing. This is where I got my inspiration from below of the textures I recreated out of simialr colours, shades and tones.
WHITE
RED
BLACK
In these samples I attempted to cover the paper mache in red, black and white to see which colours suited the remodelled shoes the best. My originl shoes were gold and red but my plan consisted of changing the order to the packaging gold and the shoes red. This allowed me to sample the red which works well as a good contrast and can capture the silouette of the shape accurately.

The design of the shoe was made out of newspaper and pva glue as I thought it would be the strongest and easiest to mould into a complex shape like a shoe. I wanted to captivate the same shape of my chosen Vivienne Westwood shoe but just the outline with a slight 3 dimensional appearance and fold them into the shoe box as if they were a normal pair of shoes you could buy in the shop.

Childhood Memories

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

Story telling... was the way children would fall to sleep. Dreaming about the unrealistic charaters. Hanzel&Gretel, Cinderella,Little Red riding hood and Sleeping Beauty. Little girl's imagined about the magical adventures shared in the novels. Influences of Little Red Riding Hood are in the concept of this photographer as he uses the basket, bed and hooded cape and thems the set red and brown to create an autumn season. Visionary designers such as: Lanvin and Galliano construct garments themed to this shoot in AMERICAN VOGUE.I like the colour scheme of dark red, browns and blacks and the styling and hair and make up to captivate the charatcers prsence and appearance.

A.M.E.L.I.E.

For my chosen couture board my design was inspired by Amelie Hegardt's illustration combined with a pose featured in one of Mark Schwarz's illustrations. This influenced me as I recreated it so it looked like she was eating the shoes as if they were sensational and expensive. The small amount of colours and vast amoutn of negative space made it look effective and allow the shoes to stand out clearly.I can see aspects of Stina Perrson's illustrations of fineliner outlines and child-like scribbles and energetic brush marks and fine lines. It suits a couture market due to the limitation of colour and neat presentation. I like the bleeding and stippling techniques used to spread and overlay the paints so I decided to interpret this effect into my design.

Outburst Of Colour

I have been inspired by Mark Schwarz's illustrations after researching in depth of shoe illustrators. His illustration's overlap with different media of ink and watercolour and acrylic. I manipulated his design to a high street market and alternated the angles and rotation of the shoes but kept the bleeding and dripping effect of the wet paint intact.
The mood of his illustrations release fun and excitement with his quick fine sketch marks and bold outlines and block colours. His work has a professional outcome but is illustrated to suit a younger target audience. His designs mantain the same consistency of media and all have qualities that are similar but recreated into a different shape or motion. He uses bright block colours all contrasting with a outline of black to make them stand out and dramatise the illustration.

Oils, Stitch, Acrylic, Watercolour ...media you find at an art fair

My grandparents are friendly with an artist called GEOFF BEARD that specialises in acryllics on canvas and abstract art. I went to view his studio and observed his technical and painting skills in landscape and surface patterns. He persuaded me to view a range of artists work on the 16th October of collage, sculptures, ceramics and paitnings. The stimuli of many city scapes consisted of either manchester or venice but changed in texture, size and angle. Inspiration came from cubist artists of braque, picasso and gardening as he socially shared with me.
Many paintings use mixed media of fabrics and paint to build on textures and layers.

Mood Swings

Recently I entered a dance competition and thought it would be a good way to reconnect mood and atmosphere into inspiration of a dancer's imagination. Obviously this was me doing a solo 2 years ago but the same routine occurs with a mixture of supportive and critical feedback. Cheers, Cries, Laughs are all experienced throughout the day of a range of age catorgories and allows young children and adults to regain the emotions of: Happiness, Excitement and Hope. Loud Music sets a social atmosphere and the communication of others creates support and unity.
